Six adults were forced to find alternative housing after a fire broke out in a Miami apartment building earlier today. According to WSVN, the blaze quickly drew a response from Miami Fire Rescue at the corner of Northeast 84th Street and Miami Court. The fire was put out swiftly, and the heat was so intense that it blew out the windows of the affected apartment and left scorch marks stretching to the unit above it.
Despite the potentially hazardous situation, all residents were away from the premises when the fire started, and no injuries were reported. The fire caused not only direct damage to the unit where it originated but, according to Local 10 News, smoke and water damage spread to an adjacent unit, bringing about unforeseen disruptions and displacement to the inhabitants.
Lt. Pete Sanchez of the City of Miami Fire Department told Local 10 News, "On arrival, crews found a two-story residential garden style apartment complex with heavy smoke and flames showing from the first floor." He detailed that firefighters moved quickly to douse the flames and confirm that there were no victims in the building, achieving fire control within a crucial 15 minutes of their arrival. The owner of the building has assumed responsibility for rehousing the displaced residents, making the involvement of organizations like the American Red Cross unnecessary.
While the immediate danger was averted, the aftermath echoes with questions and the need for answers. The Miami Fire Investigation Unit set to undertake the inquiry.
