A man from Miami-Dade, currently in custody in Texas, finds himself facing additional accusations beyond an armed sexual battery charge. Carlos Alberto Mendez, 43, is alleged to have conspired to commit murder against the victim of the sexual assault for which he was initially charged, as per authorities' statements yesterday.

According to Local10, After being apprehended by U.S. Marshals in Texas and extradited back to Miami-Dade County, Mendez supposedly began to desperately plot the assassination of his 44-year-old victim to stop her from testifying against him. Mendez discussed with an inmate the possibility to hire someone to kill the victim, providing detailed information about her daily patterns and whereabouts. Mendez's incarceration didn't stifle his alleged intentions, and it seems his schemes turned more vicious within the confines of Metrowest Detention Center. He was said to have provided the inmate with specifics, including where the victim lived, worked, as well as her vehicle parking spot, without missing to mention how the act should be carried out without drawing attention.

Miami-Dade police claimed that Mendez's plan evolved from using a jacket for strangulation to deciding upon a handgun as the murder weapon. On this decision, he allegedly assured the inmate that he could get his family to supply $1,500 for the weapon purchase, as per the Crime Online.

Additional to the murder plot, investigators found maps that were allegedly created by Mendez, showing the victim's home and parking area, with pathways to reach her without being seen. These discoveries have led to charges of solicitation to commit murder being added to the existing armed sexual battery charge against Mendez, who is being held without bond at the MWDC.
