Miami residents should brace themselves for a mix of hot, humid, and rainy conditions continuing through the weekend. Despite a slight drop in rain probabilities come Sunday and into the early week, South Florida remains in the grip of a stormy weather pattern, with high temperatures and persistent thunderstorm chances.
As of the latest National Weather Service update, there's a 60% chance of precipitation today, with possible thunderstorms after 3 p.m. and heat index values soaring as high as 105 degrees. The evening follows with a 50% chance of continued showers and thunderstorms, notably before 2am, and an expected dip in temperature to around 80 degrees. The weekend forecast appears to mirror Thursday's conditions, with nearly equal chances of rain and high heat index values.
In agreement, NBC Miami's weather report reflects a consistent theme of afternoon storms along with a high of 91 degrees for both Friday and Saturday. The report suggests that the tropical atmosphere may give South Florida a slight reprieve by Sunday, with a projected 50% chance of storms and a bump up in temperatures to 92 degrees. As summer weather continues, Hurricane Francine, which has been downgraded to a rain threat, is still affecting the Southeast. Meanwhile, a new depression has formed in the eastern Atlantic, but forecasters hope it will stay at sea.
