A fuel spill on Interstate 95 in Miami earlier today leaded to traffic delays and partial highway closures on northbound lanes. According to Local 10, an 18-wheeler was involved in an incident near Northwest 79th Street, resulting in a spillage of 40 gallons of diesel fuel and the involvement of Miami Fire Rescue crews to contain the situation. Only the express lanes remained open as the fuel leaked onto the highway.
As the morning progressed, local authorities closed the northbound traffic near the 79th Street area. The 18-wheeler was parked on the side of the road as Miami Fire Rescue worked to clean up the spill. Urging drivers to find an alternate route, Local 10 traffic reporter Alexis Frazier suggested using U.S. 1.
The accident, which initially occurred at around 10 a.m., inflicted an immediate impact on the day's traffic flow. Working to clear the scene, authorities provided no immediate details regarding potential injuries sustained during the accident, as reported by WSVN.
As of the latest updates, it remains unclear when the northbound lanes of Interstate 95 will reopen. The cause behind the fuel leak, which led to the traffic standstill and the involvement of multiple emergency responders, has yet to be disclosed. Drivers are advised to maintain caution in the vicinity and to expect continued delays as the scene is being managed.
