The Oklahoma Municipal League has added a new name to its roster of esteemed local government officials. City Manager Tim Lyon was honored with induction into the Oklahoma Hall of Fame for City and Town Officials, as reported by the City of Midwest City official website. Lyon's induction, along with two other municipal leaders, took place during the 2024 Annual Conference Banquet at the Cox Convention Center in Tulsa on September 12.

Having dedicated nearly four decades to public service in Oklahoma, Lyon stands tall with only 85 others who have achieved this distinction since 1999. The honor, celebrating significant contributions through a spirit of public service and ethical conduct, was bestowed upon him after over 19 years in leadership roles within the  City of Midwest City government, as well as earlier positions in Edmond and with state and county organizations. Having started as an administrative assistant in Edmond back in 1986, Lyon's trajectory has been marked by progressive responsibility and involvement in the development of local governments.

Throughout his tenure, Lyon has notably worked towards improving municipal operations and providing opportunities for enhancement of services to citizens. Dedicated to training and leadership for county and municipal governments, his efforts have been recognized multiple times. This includes commendations like the Oklahoma Governor's Disability Employment Award and National Installation of the Year for Tinker Air Force Base in 2013. His tenure as City Manager since 2019 has been particularly marked by significant organizational achievements and developments within the  City of Midwest City.

Lyon's recognition, as detailed in the City of Midwest City official report, is rooted in a career committed to public service. From directing human resources to ascending the ranks to be named City Manager, his work has had a marked impact not only in Midwest City but also across the state. Local accolades including awards from Tinker Air Force Base, the City Managers Association of Oklahoma, and others reflect the tangible results of Lyon’s leadership style and initiatives.
