Minneapolis Neighborhood Faces Ongoing Construction as CenterPoint Energy Advances Gas Main UpdatesSource: CenterPoint Energy - Minnesota

Residents of the Bryn Mawr neighborhood in Minneapolis have seen their share of construction and the familiar sights of 'no parking' signs as CenterPoint Energy and its contractor Michels Corporation continue infrastructure updates. This week marks further progress on the gas main work, with significant activity along several avenues.

According to a news bulletin released by CenterPoint Energy, the contractor has successfully installed new natural gas mains on multiple streets including Laurel Avenue W., Upton Avenue S., and Sheridan Avenue S. Queen Avenue S. is set to be the next street up, with connections to the existing intersecting mains planned for this week. The intersection of Queen Avenue S. and Laurel Avenue W. is scheduled to be closed on September 4, inevitably causing some temporary traffic diversions.

As for parking restrictions, the 'no parking' signs have been lifted almost everywhere, except for Queen Avenue S., where residents need to remain vigilant of the ongoing work. Furthermore, the bulletin details the crew's intention to begin installing mains under certain sidewalks, including on Mount View Avenue and Russell Avenue S., so locals should watch out for parking signs there too.

The disruption continues on Queen Avenue S., where installation efforts are underway and necessitate the placement of 'no parking' signs along the east side of the street. Crews will also strictly focus on starting work along the north sidewalk of Mount View Avenue, from Sheridan Avenue S. toward Penn Avenue, and on Russell Avenue S., between Mount View Avenue and Wayzata Boulevard. These areas will see parking restrictions enforced to accommodate the construction needs.

CenterPoint Energy has provided a communication channel for residents with queries about the project. Questions can be directed to their Communication Specialist at 612-321-5546 or via email to [email protected]. In a statement inviting community engagement, they expressed gratitude for the community's patience: "We appreciate your patience as we're upgrading our infrastructure. We wish you a great season!"
