Minneapolis residents in the East Harriet and King Field neighborhoods can expect to see crews installing new natural gas mains in the early days of October. According to a project update by CenterPoint Energy, Michels Corporation, an authorized contractor, has begun this infrastructural upgrade task.
Starting from Monday, September 23, the installations on 38th Street W. will lead to several traffic changes, including, no parking between Colfax Avenue S. and Lyndale Avenue S., a north sidewalk closure, and a southward lane shift on 38th Street W. from Bryant Avenue S. to Lyndale Avenue S. Simultaneously, gas main work on Aldrich Avenue S. will necessitate the closure of parking along the east side and sidewalk from 38th Street W. to 37th Street W.
The project will also involve relocations of inside meters to the exterior of properties and the replacement or reconnection of service lines to the new mains. Post-installation, Q3 Contracting is set to restore the areas affected by the construction work. Notably, parking on Aldrich Avenue S. is scheduled to reopen on September 23, providing some relief to the residents and local commuters.
As work progresses, residents may be looking for ways to navigate the disruptions or have their questions answered. CenterPoint Energy advises those who are curious or concerned to visit their project web page for detailed information.
