Residents in Minneapolis’ Fulton and Kenny Neighborhoods can expect to see crews upgrading natural gas pipelines this fall. As announced, CenterPoint Energy has scheduled infrastructure work which is to begin in October. The replacement is said to enhance safety and reliability, focusing on preventing corrosion and leaks.
Spanning Zenith Avenue S. from 49th Street W. to 52nd Street W., the project's aim is to move meters outside homes and replace plastic mains, among other enhancements. Affected by the construction, residents don't have to worry about any costs. There will be traffic revisions though, and these adjustments could impact parking availability, as noted by CenterPoint Energy.
In a more technical stride, the work will involve different contractors for various tasks. Equix Integrity is to update sewer line location records relative to gas lines, while Michels Corporation will handle the main replacements and meter relocations. Following their work, Q3 Contracting will take charge of restoring areas impacted, according to CenterPoint Energy.
