Minneapolis Police Department made a second arrest in connection with the violence that rocked St Anne’s Place Shelter earlier this month. On Saturday evening, a 35-year-old man was apprehended on suspicions of being involved in an assault and the discharge of a weapon. According to a statement from Police Chief Brian O’Hara, the man was arrested without incident and is currently facing charges including Assault 2 and illegal firearm possession.

These recent developments follow the events of September 5th, where a dispute between shelter residents and locals purportedly spiraled into violence, leading to at least one person being assaulted and shots being fired at a vehicle. In his public announcement, O'Hara expressed his confidence in the investigators who have managed to quickly and safely locate and arrest the suspect. He noted, "Through a coordinated effort, officers were able to locate and arrest this individual without incident." With the case still active, officials haven't ruled out the possibility of more arrests.

Earlier last week, a 33-year-old woman was also taken into custody in relation to the same incident. She is accused of threatening shelter residents and causing property damage. The Minneapolis Police Department has since submitted its findings to the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, seeking charges of felony property damage and riot against her. The altercation that led to these arrests took place on the 2600 block of Russell Ave N.

The Chief emphasized the intricate nature of this case, stating, "This incident was disturbing and involved multiple levels of potential crime which has made this ongoing investigation labor intensive." Investigators are deeply engaged in reviewing surveillance footage, conducting interviews with witnesses, and attempting to track down both victims and additional suspects. The GO number for the case is 24-253915, indicating continuous efforts by authorities to bring justice to all parties involved in the altercation.
