The misidentification stemmed from Brent sharing physical characteristics and a vehicle description with the true suspect. Despite this, Brent remains a suspect in a separate incident at the shelter, reported Minneapolis Police Department.
Concurrently, the Minneapolis Police Department has made a new arrest related to a different assault during the disturbance on September 5th at St Anne's Place Shelter. A 35-year-old man was taken into custody during a traffic stop, now facing multiple charges including assault and illegal possession of a firearm. Chief Brian O’Hara expressed gratitude towards the investigative team and emphasized the open and active status of the investigation, suggesting that more arrests could be forthcoming. "Our investigators continued to follow the evidence and another arrest has occurred," O’Hara stated, acknowledging the complexity of the case.
This is the second arrest in two days connected to events at the shelter. On September 12, a 33-year-old woman was arrested for her role in causing property damage and threatening shelter residents. She is currently facing charges including felony property damage and riot. This incident involved an escalation from verbal altercations to physical violence between shelter residents and neighbors, resulting in damage to the building and a vehicle.
