A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a collision with a van in Portage, as reported by local authorities last week. The incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. yesterday, near the intersection of Romence Road Parkway and South Westnedge Avenue, close to a Sam's Club according to MLive. A 64-year-old man from Vicksburg was riding a Yamaha motorcycle eastbound when a van emerging from a business parking lot caused a significant crash.
The motorcyclist was promptly transported to the hospital to receive care for his serious injuries. Meanwhile, the other vehicle involved, a red Ford Econoline van, was driven by a 70-year-old Kalamazoo man who did not sustain any injuries. As detailed by FOX 17, the Portage Department of Public Safety has confirmed that alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this occurrence, which is still under official investigation authorities are continuing to probe the specifics of the event.
Following the crash, the traffic flow was disrupted with two eastbound lanes and one westbound lane on Romence Road Parkway temporarily closed. Officials with the Portage Department of Public Safety are urging anyone with information related to the crash to come forward.
