A mountain biker sustained serious injuries yesterday after a crash on Chicken Shack Fire Road, prompting a swift response from first responders. The California Highway Patrol's Golden Gate Division Air Operations, known as CHP H-30, alongside Con Air 1 and Novato Fire Department, were dispatched to the scene following reports that the cyclist was struggling to move.
Upon arrival, a Flight Officer Paramedic was deployed by CHP H-30 to assist the Novato Fire team in stabilizing and securing the injured rider with a rescue device. CHP Golden Gate Division Air Operations subsequently shared footage and updates on the rescue effort on their Facebook page. In light of the difficult terrain, the decision was made to quickly hoist and ensure the patient's safety from the trail.
The critically injured patient was then airlifted and transferred to Con Air 1. The individual was transported to urgent care at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
