Houston police are investigating a mysterious fatal shooting of a man whose body was discovered following a vehicular crash on the Southwest Freeway. The man, identified as 49-year-old Miguel Rodriguez, was found on the South U.S. Highway 59 service road earlier this Saturday morning, as first reported by the City of Houston's official news site.
An investigation by HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Lovelace and M. Hughey provided the detail that a red Ford F-150 pickup truck was, according to their preliminary findings, traveling southbound when it veered off the road and collided with a power line pole. The collision rolled the vehicle onto its side, a sight that first responders were met with upon their arrival.
The narrative shifted when the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences conducted an evaluation and determined Rodriguez had sustained a gunshot wound. As reported by the City of Houston's news announcement, the HPD Homicide Division was promptly brought in to commence an exhaustive investigation into the circumstances surrounding Rodriguez's death.
Currently, the search for witnesses or suspects continues. "At this time, there are no known witnesses or suspects in the shooting," according to the same news release. In response, officials are extending a call to the public for any information that could shed light on this fatal incident. Informants can reach out to the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or share tips anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
