In an effort to reduce road congestion and inform Nashville residents about alternatives to solo car commuting, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT) is teaming up with Nashville Connector to host a day-long Transportation Demand Management (TDM) summit. This event, part of the national "TDM Week," will take place at Nissan Stadium on Friday and is aimed at promoting sustainable travel options within the community, according to NDOT.
The summit, to unfold from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. this coming Friday, features an array of transit experts and officials poised to discuss the merits of TDM strategies. The lineup of speakers includes notables like Mayor Freddie O’Connell and NDOT Director Diana Alarcon. Among the notable attendees are the Tennessee Titans, represented by their VP of Communications and Corporate Affairs, Kate Guerra, and numerous transit organizations that will contribute to the discussions.
According to an announcement by NDOT, the public is encouraged to take part and benefit from the ten scheduled sessions, though they must register in advance. Nashville’s effort is indicative of a broader initiative that involves government and private sector efforts to foster improved mobility practices.
During the summit, strategies will focus on reducing traffic congestion by promoting public transit, carpooling, and non-motorized commuting options. With the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Transit Alliance of Middle Tennessee participating, the event aims to thoroughly examine local transportation challenges and explore practical solutions.
To be a part of the discussions on the future of Nashville's transportation, residents can sign up for the no-cost summit via the NDOT website.
