
A tragic accident on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville resulted in the death of 67-year-old Albertaus Peek from Bodegraven, Netherlands. Peek was riding with a group when the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. near milepost 377, according to National Parks Service dispatchers, as reported by WBTV.
Buncombe County emergency responders found Peek deceased upon arrival at the scene, where the preliminary investigation suggested that he lost control of his motorcycle during a turn. He subsequently exited his lane and collided with a northbound vehicle. The individual driving the northbound vehicle sustained minor injuries. The Citizen Times confirmed these details in a news release from the National Park Service. The accident happened in Craven Gap on the Blue Ridge Parkway, near the U.S. 70 Asheville entrance.
The National Park Service has not released additional details about the crash, but the investigation is ongoing, according to abc13 News.
