Residents planning their end-of-week activities should note the closures of several City of New Braunfels facilities scheduled for Friday, September 27, in recognition of the Comal County Fair Day holiday. Essential services like residential and commercial garbage and recycling collection will continue as usual, but those planning to visit the Municipal Court or the library will need to adjust their plans.
According to an announcement by the City of New Braunfels, city-operated buildings such as City Hall, both branches of the Public Library, and the New Braunfels Civic and Convention Center will be closed on the holiday. Originally published for residents on September 20, details of the closures list can be viewed on the city's website. However, Das Rec will be open with modified hours from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Landa Park Golf Course at Comal Springs keeps its regular schedule.
Prior to the holiday, the Main Branch Library will close early at 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday. The library will be closed through the weekend. Other affected services include the parks and recreation administrative offices, the Fischer Park Nature Center, solid waste and recycling administrative offices, and the Westside Community Center.
For those who plan to navigate the city streets during the Comal County Fair Parade, be aware of the scheduled road closures. Starting at around 7:00 a.m., thoroughfares like South Seguin Avenue and Main Plaza, along with East San Antonio Street, will be inaccessible, with closures expected to last until approximately 1:00 p.m. For maps and more details on the parade route, check the City of New Braunfels website to plan your commute.
