On Tuesday afternoon, the final touches on the Mission Rock development were cemented with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Verde, the newest addition and the culmination of Phase One in the area's transformation. A collaborative undertaking by Tishman Speyer and the San Francisco Giants, Verde is a 23-story residential tower offering 254 apartments, with 59 of those tagged "affordable housing. " It is situated along the waterfront reimagined by the Giants' 28-acre former parking expanse, as per SF YIMBY.
As reported by SF YIMBY, the green tile-clad edifice includes more than just housing; it also includes offices, retail spaces, and a suite of residential amenities, including a fitness center and a digital media studio. In terms of specifics, Verde's residential options range from 30 studios to four spacious three-bedroom units, all encapsulated in their distinctively designed architectural frame by Chicago-based firm Studio Gang.
Addressing the assembly during the festive occasion, Mayor London Breed emphasized the significance of public-private collaborations, stating, "the success of Mission Rock shows what we can do when we work with private partners who are committed to the future of our City. We appreciate the hard work over many years of everyone who helped make today’s celebration a reality," as per SF YIMBY. Mayor London Breed echoed this sentiment, highlighting the vision of a vibrant and resilient San Francisco materializing through this latest landmark.
We just marked a major milestone in the transformation of San Francisco’s waterfront with the opening of Verde, the fourth and final building in the first phase of Mission Rock.

Verde began welcoming residents as early as June this year and, according to tour guides, is approximately 20% leased, with 24% of market-rate units snagged by new occupants. Ground-level retail spaces are on track to open their doors, including a branch of the Arsicault bakery, which is expected to serve its first customers later this month.
