The deadline to nominate outstanding young people in Hillsborough County for the Youth Excellence and Achievement Awards (YEA! Awards) is September 12. These awards recognize middle and high school students for their leadership, overcoming challenges, and commitment to volunteer work and community service.

The YEA! Awards have several categories to recognize young leaders with important skills for today’s world. The Leadership Award honors students who show critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity. The Volunteer or Community Service Award celebrates students dedicated to serving others. For more details, visit the Hillsborough County, Florida website.

The Hillsborough County Commission on the Status of Women is tasked with reviewing the nominations. Their work ensures a fair and thorough evaluation process for all the eye-catching stories of youth dedication and deterrence that come through via the online submission form, available at HCFL.gov/YEA.

Since starting in 2010, the YEA! Awards have recognized young change-makers in Hillsborough County. In October, the Board of County Commissioners will present the awards to students who have excelled in their fields and shown a strong commitment to improving themselves and their communities. This recognition emphasizes the value of their efforts and highlights their importance to the community.
