
Open Streets Minneapolis is setting up shop on West Broadway Ave this Saturday, bringing a car-free celebration of community and local flavor to North Minneapolis. According to an announcement by the city's official website, the event, which is part of a seasonal series, will run from 11 am to 5 pm and is expected to attract neighbors from all walks of life to the temporarily pedestrianized area from Lyndale Ave. to Penn Ave.
Kristel Porter, Executive Director of the West Broadway Business and Area Coalition expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event, detailing the deep ties it has within the community, "We are thrilled to bring Open Streets West Broadway to life again," she said, and she's looking forward to showcasing the area's spirit through interactions that stretch beyond the confines of common urban bustle; the event brings together local businesses, artists, and community groups to not only support each other but also to forge stronger community bonds. "This event is more than just a street festival—it's a powerful celebration of our vibrant community and the incredible energy that exists in North Minneapolis," Porter elaborated on the engaging nature of the festivity in a statement obtained by the city's news release.
The gathering isn't limited to socializing and local pride, it's a full-fledged cultural exhibition with more than 250 vendors lined up to provide an eclectic mix of activities across a 17-block stretch, live music, dance, and performances will take center stage while the cultural fabric of North Minneapolis will unfold in art, a pop-up markets and a food court that will allow visitors to savor the community's heritage through both crafts and cuisine.
