Early Thursday morning, two separate accidents disrupted the flow of traffic along I-44 in Oklahoma City, with emergency crews swiftly responding to the scenes. According to KFOR, the first incident was a multi-vehicle collision in the northbound lanes near the I-40 Junction, leading officials to advise distraught motorists to seek alternative routes due to a significant traffic backup.
The second incident occurred in the southbound lanes near NW 10th St., where a wreck also began to slow down traffic. This incident, though less severe, added to an already congested morning commute. As of now, there are fortunately no injuries reported from either accident. News9 confirmed the absence of injuries and noted the impact of the crash on traffic in the area.
Details from the scene emerged, with KOCO reporting that a crash before the Amarillo Junction involved three vehicles with significant damage, necessitating the closure of two lanes to enable debris clearance from the thoroughfare. The same source provided aerial footage of the accident.
Further north of the bridge, two additional vehicles were seen stationary due to some damage. This created another point of congestion as authorities worked to quickly clear the area and restore normal traffic flow. Not much more information has been released at this time, and those looking for timely updates on the situation can refer to KFOR's Live Traffic Map.
