Oklahoma City is coming together for a shared cause—finding homes for animals in need. Tomorrow, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare is partaking in the Clear the Shelters campaign, a national initiative aimed at finding loving homes for animals in need. The event is a collaborative effort, joining OKC Animal Welfare with Horse and Hounds, Nexus Equine, and ASPCA, and is supported by NBCUniversal Local’s NBC and Telemundo, according to the City of Oklahoma.
The day is set to be an engaging experience for animal lovers, beginning at 9:30 a.m. with a morning walk featuring shelter dogs. Adoptions and event festivities will start at noon, with food trucks, drinks, and giveaways adding to the enjoyment. Attendees will have the opportunity to interact with dogs, cats, rodents, and horses, all eagerly awaiting a forever home. The event promises to be both noble and enjoyable, offering a variety of activities for everyone.
To address pet overpopulation, Oklahoma City Animal Welfare will waive all dog and cat adoption fees during the event. According to City of Oklahoma Animal Welfare, each animal will be spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccines. Prospective adopters only need to provide a valid form of identification. If you're interested, visit OKC Animal Welfare at 2811 SE 29th St.
This event offers more than just the chance to adopt a pet; it also provides an invaluable opportunity to engage with the staff from the four participating shelters and learn about their ongoing programs. It's an occasion to discuss how to continuously support these organizations, which work tirelessly to manage the surplus of pets and ensure their well-being. Your attendance will help raise awareness and may inspire others in the community to get involved. Whether or not you plan to adopt, your presence contributes to the vital conversation about pet overpopulation in Oklahoma City.
