Minneapolis Police are investigating a shooting incident from late last week that left one man dead and another injured on Grand Avenue South, as the city grapples with a spate of gun violence. According to a bulletin released by the Minneapolis Police Department, the unfortunate episode unfolded approaching midnight on August 31, with first responders rushing to the 2900 block of Grand Av S after reports of gunfire.
The scene they encountered told a grim but increasingly familiar story: a young man in his 20s was found suffering from fatal gunshot wounds and despite the immediate medical attention provided, he was pronounced dead before he could be transported to a hospital, and simultaneously another man, also in his 20s, was discovered with non-life-threatening injuries and was quickly shuttled to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment, as per the Minneapolis Police Department. Preliminary investigations suggest the shootings occurred as a group was walking along the sidewalk when suddenly shots disrupted the night. Possible suspects were observed fleeing on foot, though no arrests have been made at this time.
Authorities are calling on the public to come forward with any information that could lead to apprehensions; individuals with knowledge about the case are urged to contact CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or through their website.
