Oklahoma City's dining scene is about to get a taste of the ocean as the renowned Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen has been greenlit to open its doors within the grand development project Alley North, as per the Oklahoma City Planning Commission. The upscale mixed-use area located between NW 13 and Broadway is touted to be the new home for a diverse array of establishments including apartments, restaurants, shops, and the new headquarters for Guernsey, an architectural and engineering firm, The Oklahoman reports.
The family-owned restaurant chain, which celebrates over a century of culinary tradition dating back to the arrival of H.D. Pappas from Greece in 1897, is well-known for its emphasis on quality and impeccable service, and the stakes are high for the Oklahoma City venture which will house the restaurant in a 10,000-square-foot property designed by Chris Pappas' niece, Evy Pappas, with Chris Pappas demonstrating his commitment by presenting at the Planning Commission on the day of the approval, this according to news from KOKH FOX25.
Thursday's decision by the Oklahoma City Planning Commission was met with wide approval, marked by a 6-2 vote with one abstention, paving the way for the Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen to rejuvenate an area just off Interstate 235, near Northwest 16th Street and North Broadway Avenue. "It's a family company. We've been in business for over 100 years with my grandfather in the restaurant business. We've had Pappadeaux in the marketplace for about 40 years," Chris Pappas stated in an interview with KOCO 5 News.
