The Worst Heat Arrives This Afternoon
People working or exercising outdoors should drink plenty of water, stay in air conditioning when possible, avoid strenuous activity during the afternoon and check on older adults, children and neighbors who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
During extreme heat, residents should seek shade and take regular breaks. Lightweight clothing, shade and regular breaks will matter as the afternoon temperature approaches triple digits.
Triple-Digit Stretch Continues Before Weekend Relief
The heat will not end Sunday. Monday is expected to remain hot, with south winds gusting as high as 24 mph, followed by above-normal temperatures Tuesday and continued above-normal temperatures through Wednesday.
