Robbin Lagrande Gough, a parole absconder, is facing a slew of charges after leading Redford Township police on a chase in a stolen van which culminated in a confrontation that left two officers injured. The chase occurred last Wednesday, and Gough, 37, was apprehended the same day, as reported by The Detroit News.
Following the events last Wednesday, Gough was charged with second-degree fleeing police, receiving and concealing stolen property, two counts of assaulting a police officer and causing injury, along with driving with a suspended license, offenses that may be weighted more heavily due to his status as a fourth-time habitual offender, according to FOX 2 Detroit. Additionally, The Detroit News provided details on Gough’s previous convictions which include fleeing police, first-degree retail fraud, escaping prison, armed robbery, and prior incidents of driving with a suspended license.
Gough’s latest alleged criminal escapade began when Redford police officers were notified about an occupied stolen van located near Shiawassee Drive, recounted by WWJ Newsradio. The attempt to arrest Gough led to a pursuit when he sped away in the vehicle.
The confrontation which ensued after police managed to stop Gough was described as a "physical altercation" by FOX 2 Detroit, an altercation during which two Redford officers sustained injuries that later required hospital treatment but were considered non-life-threatening; this incident has Gough's bond set at a striking $1 million, with the added condition of a GPS tether should he post bail.
