For the second time this week, Pasco County has witnessed the arrest of a student for allegedly issuing threats towards a school. Deputies at the Pasco Sheriff's Office have detained a student following an investigation into online threats aimed at Wiregrass Ranch High School. The student faces charges of written threats to kill and unlawful use of a two-way communication device, as reported by WFLA.
After imposing a temporary alert status on the school, which affected not just Wiregrass Ranch High but also nearby institutions, the student suspected of initiating the threat was apprehended. This measure was a response to threats made on social media. The sheriff’s office has assured that there is no immediate danger to the the schools, and normal activities have resumed.
The recent apprehension mirrors a prior incident from earlier in the week when another student was arrested for threats against several schools in the county, including Cypress Creek High School and Zephyrhills High School. This information was corroborated by an article from Pasco News Online.
Reiterating the seriousness of such threats, the Pasco Sheriff's Office "once again urges parents and guardians to speak with their children about the consequences of making threats and the dangers of sharing threats and rumors instead of reporting them immediately to law enforcement," as stated on their Facebook page and quoted by WTSP.
