Tragedy struck on Foothill Boulevard in Rancho Cucamonga when a pedestrian was fatally injured after being struck by a vehicle. The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department reported that deputies responded to the scene of the collision on September 18, 2024, around 8:20 p.m., where they found 65-year-old Anna Cunerty had been hit by a car while crossing the street.
According to the sheriff's department, the driver of the vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Daniel Schultz from Ontario was traveling west on Foothill Boulevard before the collision occurred. The victim, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga, was crossing outside of a crosswalk when the accident happened. Emergency services, including the American Medical Response (AMR) and the Rancho Cucamonga Fire District, attempted life-saving measures but, despite their efforts, Cunerty was pronounced deceased at a local hospital later.
The collision is currently under investigation by Deputies E. Arechiga and M. McDonald from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team.
