A tragic incident unfolded on the streets of Montgomery County earlier this week, as a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle on Hungerford Road. Montgomery County Department of Police's Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision, which took place on the night of September 24.
The incident occurred just after 9 p.m., when a silver 2010 Nissan Maxima traveling northbound collided with 61-year-old pedestrian Jose Rene Del Cid Ramos at the intersection of Hungerford Road and Beall Avenue. Paramedics and officers from both the Rockville City Police Department and Montgomery County Fire Rescue were, dispatched to the scene, where they found Ramos with severe injuries.
Despite immediate medical attention and being rushed to a local hospital, Jose Rene Del Cid Ramos succumbed to his injuries. As per the filed report on Montgomery County's official portal, the investigation into the accident is ongoing. CRU detectives are piecing together the events that led to the fatal encounter between man and machine. The driver of the Nissan has not been charged at this point and is cooperating with investigators.
The authorities have issued an appeal to the public for any information relevant to the crash. Witnesses or those with knowledge of the collision are encouraged to come forward.
