Tragedy struck late Saturday night in Brooklyn Park when a pedestrian was severely injured in a traffic incident. The crash occurred on Highway 252 at the intersection of Brookdale Drive North, authorities said. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a nearby hospital and is listed in critical condition. According to the incident report, the accident happened shortly after 11:30 P.M. last Saturday.
The Minnesota State Patrol has taken the helm of the investigation, with Brooklyn Park Officers assisting in traffic control during the aftermath. The roadway, a well-traveled conduit through the heart of Brooklyn Park, was closed for approximately two hours as officials responded to, and then cleared, the scene. The closure led to a detour of late-night traffic while the authorities performed their duties.
Details about the cause of the accident have yet to be fully disclosed. However, early indications are that alcohol was not a contributing factor. The focus now shifts to recovery for the injured and to the broader questions that such incidents inevitably raise about pedestrian safety and urban infrastructure.
