Adam Parker, a 38-year-old from Peoria, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for a fatal DUI crash that claimed the life of a mother, Elizabeth McAloon, and injured her young daughter, the Pinal County Attorney's Office reported.
The judgment was passed down by Pinal County Superior Court Judge Steven Fuller and comes after Parker pled guilty to Second Degree Murder and Aggravated Assault without a plea agreement in place, it was a sentencing that reflected the gravity of the consequences stemming from Parker's reckless decision to operate a vehicle while heavily intoxicated, his blood alcohol content registered at a staggering 0.23 which is nearly three times the legal limit.
During the sentencing, Elizabeth McAloon’s memory was honored by her family, highlighting her vibrant spirit and deep faith. "This defendant's senseless decision to drive drunk took the life of an innocent mother," remarked County Attorney Kent Volkmer. Volkmer's sentiment underscored prevailing grief stating, "There is no length of time served that can undo this tragedy, but we hope today marks at least some small sense of closure for the victim's family and that they can begin to heal,” according to a statement obtained by the Pinal County Attorney's Office.
On January 20, 2024, the catastrophic incident unfolded when Parker, driving a truck, careened into the McAloons' SUV while they were on their way home from church – multiple 911 calls preceding the crash painted a picture of the imminent threat as Parker was seen moving aggressively in and out of traffic and then entered the wrong way, a sequence of choices which led to the tragic collision and that ultimately left a family shattered and began yet another chapter of a mourning community.
