In a recent incident on Howard Street in Petaluma, a female was reportedly attacked with a BB gun, suffering injuries that necessitated hospitalization. The event occurred on September 17, when police were summoned to the scene at around 10:58 pm after the victim, enduring multiple shot wounds and bleeding profusely, raised the alarm that she had been shot, as released in a statement by the Petaluma Police Department.
The assault, captured by nearby surveillance, started when the victim was hit in the hand by BB pellets shot from a blue vehicle driven by 19-year-old Christopher Caballero. After fleeing for safety, she was pursued and further shot in the back of the head by the unknown passenger in the car, an act that resulted in a puncture wound.
The officers swiftly located the suspect's vehicle, finding evidence inside that was in plain view, potentially linked to the crime. During subsequent interactions with law enforcement, Caballero conceded to driving the vehicle but refrained from identifying the person accompanying him.
Consequently, Caballero was taken into custody on charges including conspiracy to commit a crime and assault with a deadly weapon. Even though the driver was forthright about his involvement, Petaluma Police Department Detectives, alongside CSI members, are diligently working on gathering additional evidence.
