Heads up, Pittsburgh drivers: Major closures are slated for this weekend. Starting from 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept 6 until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept 8, the inbound Armstrong Tunnel and Second Avenue ramps will be off-limits. The reason: They've got to clean up the entrances and exits as part of a much larger refurbishing gig, as reported by an Allegheny County press release.

Allegheny County's Department of Public Works broke the news, saying it's necessary to give the Armstrong Tunnel a good scrub as part of the ongoing $13.1 million face-lift. If you're planning to head into the city this way, prepare for a detour that'll take you through Second Avenue, Ross Street, and Forbes Avenue instead. As for the folks usually taking the Second Avenue ramp off westbound I-376, you're going to be rerouted over to the Grant Street off-ramp (Exit 71A).

Don't forget that the outbound Armstrong Tunnel remains closed due to a rehabilitation project being undertaken by Mosites Construction Company of Robinson.
