Drivers in Pittsburgh, brace yourselves for a bit of detour starting tomorrow. According to a bulletin from the City of Pittsburgh's Department of Mobility and Infrastructure, McArdle Roadway will be out of commission starting 5 a.m. on Wednesday, September 4th, and it's slated to reopen by 7 p.m. Sunday, September 8th.
Commuters will not be left without options, though. To keep traffic flowing, two lanes heading both inbound and outbound will remain open on the Liberty Bridge. For those venturing southbound from downtown or heading to Mt. Washington from the East (Southside), the recommended detour is via Saw Mill Run Blvd and Boggs Avenue. Similarly, those journeying northbound along West Liberty Avenue from the South Hills are directed to take the Saw Mill Run Blvd-to-Boggs Ave alternative route.
The Department of Mobility and Infrastructure is keeping citizens in the loop via their Facebook page and platform X. Stay connected to dodge the traffic snarls and keep pace with this necessary inconvenience. And remember, these plans are subject to change.
