Firefighters from the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire were called into action just after the afternoon hour on Tuesday to address flames consuming space along the South Side Riverfront Park as a cluster of tents by the Monongahela River caught fire.
According to the Pittsburgh Public Safety Blotter, the Bureau's fireboat team promptly met the incident, which made haste towards the flare-up by water and extinguished the fires that had erupted within these temporary lodgings, the Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire reported.
Thankfully, the blaze was extinguished without any reported injuries, a fortunate outcome in what could have been a tragic situation. With the immediate danger gone, investigations have begun, with the Fire Investigation Unit looking into the cause of the fire.
