Heading into the evening and beyond, Pittsburghers have more good weather news as the trend of dry conditions is expected to persist through Thursday night. The National Weather Service notes a weak upper ridge building over the region and surface high pressure moving east, leading to surface winds around to more easterly or southeasterly. The resulting climb in temperatures will usher in highs near or above 80 degrees each afternoon, with night lows also on the mild side. However, cloud cover is anticipated to creep over the area from the northwest coming Thursday night, in advance of an upper trough that digs into the upper Great Lakes.
In terms of aviation, the outlook remains mainly very favorable for flying with high pressure expected to "maintain VFR through Thursday," as reported by the National Weather Service. While there's a possibility for late night and early morning river valley steam fog due to cooler air over the warm river water, pilots and travelers can anticipate generally clear skies and smooth operations up until the weather becomes more active on Friday and Saturday.
