The NWS Pittsburgh has released a forecast that promises a week of seasonable temperatures and low humidity for the region. According to the National Weather Service, "Seasonable temperatures and noticeably less humid and dry conditions will prevail through much of the upcoming week", with Friday earmarking the return of precipitation chances.
Today, the city gets to enjoy cool and comfortable conditions, as the weather aficionados highlight. It's that time when the locals can fully take advantage of the outdoors before the weather takes its inevitable turn. A slight chance exists that a cumulus cloud field could develop during the day, due to colder air aloft. However, Lake Erie is expected to have a limited effect on local moisture due to prevailing northerly winds at higher altitudes. Temperatures are predicted to be "5 to 10 degrees below normal," according to the NWS forecast.
The short-term outlook from tonight continuing through Wednesday maintains the cool trend. The high-pressure system is expected to bring abundant sunshine and temperatures "a few degrees below normal," says the National Weather Service. Come Wednesday, expect a modest warming with the high pressure moving eastward, allowing daytime temperatures to bounce back to seasonal averages.
For aviation interests, VFR (Visual Flight Rules) conditions are expected today with potential for wind gusts during the afternoon reaching 15 to 20 knots from the north. As mixing increases today, some stronger winds could mix down to the surface, the NWS detailed. Calmer conditions will resume by dusk, and high pressure is to maintain VFR through Thursday. The forecast concludes by noting potential river valley steam fog in the mornings and a more active weather pattern potentially disrupting air travel on Friday and Saturday.
