A fatal car crash on the Parkway West in Pittsburgh claimed the life of a young woman and left two others injured, state police reported. The incident occurred early Saturday morning when an Infiniti car driven by 23-year-old Jordan I. Bowyer of Pitcairn reportedly lost control at high speed. According to the TribLIVE, the car crashed near the Allies and Liberty Bridge Boulevard exit around 12:30 a.m.
The front seat passenger, identified as Brooke R. Howard, a 20-year-old woman from Pitcairn, died at the scene. A backseat passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the driver, Bowyer, was treated for minor injuries, and suspicion of impairment hovers over the tragic scenario, though no charges had been filed at that time.
In a separate report by WPXI, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a crash in the westbound lanes of Parkway East near Oakland. They discovered a sedan speeding, losing control, and colliding with a barrier.
