
The Metropolitan Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a deadly incident where a pedestrian was killed in Northwest D.C. last weekend. According to a press release by MPD, the event took place in the early hours of Sunday, September 1.
The investigation has shed light on the fact that a pedestrian, later identified as 26-year-old Myles Kevin Mcewen of Northwest, D.C., was walking on the north sidewalk on the 900 block of U Street, Northwest. Encountering the crosswalk at Vermont Avenue, it was there, against the do not walk signal, that the pedestrian was hit by a vehicle which fled the scene, continuing northbound on Vermont Avenue. The time was approximately 2:19 a.m. when Mcewen tragically met his demise.
Tragically, Mcewen was pronounced dead right there on the scene of the crash. The search for the driver involved in the hit-and-run is ongoing, and police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in the investigation.
