A violent collision in Pompano Beach yesterday morning led to two individuals, including a child, being hospitalized, with one adult in critical condition. The Pompano Beach Police responded to a crash along East Atlantic Boulevard and Northeast 15th Avenue, where one of the vehicles involved was propelled into the front of a Truist Bank, according to WSVN.
Details from the scene revealed by NBC Miami indicate the crash occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. involving a BMW and a Toyota. The impact was severe enough to send the Toyota hurtling into the structure. Pompano Beach Fire Rescue had to extricate the driver of the Toyota before transporting him to Broward Health North in a state of critical condition.
A child in the BMW sustained minor injuries and was also taken to a hospital for treatment. The condition of those involved emphasizes the severity of this incident, which is still being pieced together by local authorities. So far, it remains unclear if anyone inside the financial institution was injured during the unexpected intrusion.
The Broward Sheriff's Office has yet to determine what caused the initial collision. As the cause of the crash is still under investigation, the community hopes for the swift recovery of those injured, particularly the individual in critical condition and the child recovering from their injuries.
