A multi-vehicle collision in Beechview on Thursday evening resulted in property damage when a driver hit three other vehicles, leading to a collapsed porch of a local business. According to a release from the Pittsburgh Public Safety Department, the incident occurred around 6:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Banksville Road when a 30-year-old man swerved to avoid being cut off and collided with the other cars.
Initial reports indicate the driver, while descending Coast Avenue towards Banksville Road, had to abruptly swerve not to hit another car that allegedly entered his path without warning. This reaction caused his vehicle to strike two parked cars before impacting a third. All three were forcefully pushed into the front of a business, bringing down its front porch. The Public Safety Department, upon assessing the scene, requested that PLI evaluate the building for potential structural issues.
Fortunately, when Pittsburgh EMS arrived at the site, they found no immediate need for medical transport, as all involved drivers declined assistance. However, the extent of the property damage to the business has necessitated a thorough inspection, though no details have been released on the findings or the estimated cost of repairs.
