A quick and effective response by local firefighters halted the progress of a vegetation fire in Placerville yesterday afternoon. According to the El Dorado County Fire Protection District, the blaze was reported at 1:48 pm in an area of grass and trees off of Blairs Ln near Eskaton Drive. The firefighting crew's swift action contained the fire to less than 1/10 of an acre and ensured that no evacuations were necessary.
