Raleigh's downtown parking just got a high-tech makeover, making it easier for the city's drivers to park and go. With the last of the upgrades completed last Wednesday at the Blount Street parking deck, all nine city-owned parking decks now boast a new set of features designed to speed up and streamline the parking process - with as little as interference as possible since the decks were operational during the entire project, according to the City of Raleigh.
In an effort to cater to today's ever-evolving workplace dynamics that have shifted towards hybrid models, the city's former Parking Manager, Matthew Currier, emphasized how these upgrades are aligned with client convenience. "The enhancements will transition the City-owned parking decks into a modern and connected operation that is poised to provide a high level of customer service in the post-pandemic environment of hybrid workplaces and employee flexibility," Currier told City of Raleigh official website. He added, "These options will increase the speed at which customers are able to leave the deck and reduce frustration for customers waiting in line at exit."
The upgrades include a fully automated system from Skidata, Inc., which is expected to expedite entry and exit times, thus reducing the waiting period for drivers. A distinctive addition is the 24/7 live support, ensuring that help is readily available any time it's needed. Other notable features that come part of the package are multilingual support and diverse payment options, as well as ADA compliant screens that offer large, color displays for better accessibility, as mentioned by the City of Raleigh.
These changes signal a broader move in City of Raleigh to synthesize convenience with modernity, a goal that seems to be taking shape across various city services. Raleigh's commitment to such improvements is seen as a step towards setting new benchmarks in urban parking solutions, hinting at the city's larger quest for enhancing customer satisfaction and ease of access for all its residents.
