
Charlestown police apprehended 22-year-old Brian Murat of Randolph on the night of September 25 on multiple charges, including firearm and drug violations. According to a report from Boston Police Department, officers were patrolling the area of Terminal Street when they noticed a vehicle illegally parked at the Little Mystic Boat Ramp, despite not towing a boat.
Upon approaching the vehicle to notify the occupants of the infraction, the officers claim to have spotted a firearm openly lying on the passenger side floor. This discovery led them to swiftly remove and handcuff the occupants for safety reasons. The police were able to determine, and Murat himself acknowledged, that the Glock 22—loaded with one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine—was his possession.
During the subsequent investigation, officers found fourteen individually packaged bags of crack cocaine on Murat. The driver of the vehicle was released from the scene without charges. In the capture of Murat.
Murat now faces several charges including Carrying a Firearm Without a License (second offense), Unlawful Possession of Ammunition (subsequent offense), Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Firearm, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B drugs. He is expected to soon make his court appearance for these allegations at Charlestown District Court.
