Authorities in Tennessee have found human remains at a residence in Wilson County, a concerning discovery connected to the search for a missing Nashville woman. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reported that the remains were located at a property on Burnt House Road last week, as confirmed in pieces by WKRN, WSMV4, and FOX17.
The remains were found during a search operation for 23-year-old Blanca Guadalupe Berrios Orellana, missing since August; she was last seen on August 18, described as having brown eyes, a small scar under her chin, and standing at 5′2″ and weighing 120 pounds according to the WSMV4 report and the case grew more complex when, following a tip that led detectives to the Lebanon home further complicating matters, Berrios's car was found at her stepfather's house, an angle yet to be explored in public briefings.
At this juncture, the identity of the remains has not been established, and the investigation is being described as "active and ongoing," with the TBI asserting the necessity for additional testing. There is a poignant gap between discovery and disclosure, and an urban search and rescue team, along with detectives and police from multiple jurisdictions, have been heavily involved in excavation and processing of the Lebanon property, according to a statement obtained by FOX17.
Residents in the tight-knit community have reported with recalling Orellana working at the home a few weeks ago, as per their accounts shared with news outlets while they also described the noticeable presence of authorities who were there and they seen officers remove a dumpster from the site during the search, but the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office has yet to reveal what specific leads brought them to the under-construction house, as reported by WKRN.
Orellana's mother, Ines Berrios, voiced her heartbreak through a translator, "Some days, I think they took her and some days, I don’t really think anything," she told WKRN in a statement that echoes the uncertainty and anguish that families of the missing.
