Heads up, Līhu‘e residents and visitors: a bit of traffic disruption is coming your way early next month. If you're planning to cruise around Luina and Makau streets between October 1 and October 4, you'll need to chart a new course. The Department of Public Works has teamed up with contractor Maui Kupono Builders to put the pavement through its paces — we're talking road resurfacing, according to the County of Kaua'i.
Now let's break it down schedule-wise. Luina Street's getting the treatment on Oct. 1 and Oct 2. Makau Street, from Luina Street to Makai Street, it's your turn on Oct. 3 and Oct 4, according to the latest from the County of Kaua‘i. Work will happen from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., unless the weather causes delays. No parking signs are popping up throughout the work zones. Delays are likely, so be sure to budget some extra time to reach your destination. Trained flaggers will be present to direct traffic.
If you've got questions burning a hole in your brain or just want to chat about the specifics, go ahead and reach out. Maui Kupono Builders can be buzzed at 808-369-1800. For a direct line to the County of Kaua‘i, Todd Ozaki's your guy at 808-241-4845. They'll have the scoop on what's up with the Luina and Makau street soiree.
