Tomorrow, the community market known as REACHing US: People's Market will be adding a special flair to its usual offerings. Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, the market is highlighting the contributions of Mexican farmers and their fresh produce. Set for tomorrow, from noon to 4 p.m., this event promises to be a vibrant union of culture and community held at 18480 S.E Stark St., as mentioned in a recent announcement by the Multnomah County’s Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program.

Co-founded by Anthony Bradley and Germaine Flentroy, Play Grow Learn has been the driving force behind this venture. The REACH program nurtured also community ties and entrepreneurial spirits. Charlene McGee, Director of the Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Division, stressed the market’s impact, telling Multnomah County News, "The market provides a sense of ownership... Helping them to feel more connected. They all have different stories. This has become a space that they look forward to coming to."

The market serves as a canvas for the local community's tapestry. Patrons visiting tomorrow will be treated also to more unique offerings such as sweet potato cupcakes. Along with food, the market also provides holistic community services including haircuts, handmade jewelry, and a pop-up food pantry. County programs also play a key role, bridging the gap between commerce and public health by offering vaccines and spreading the word about health and human services.

With over half the nearly two-dozen booths dedicated to food, visitors can indulge in homegrown fruits and vegetables. Free smoothies and light snacks accompany the aromas of barbecue that are poised to greet guests upon their entrance. The REACHing US: People's Market, a local staple since its inception on June 30, will continue to serve the community every Sunday through October 27.
