A fire broke out at The Gathering Inn's Berkeley Avenue location in Roseville late Sunday night, causing damage to a building primarily used as an office and laundry space. CBS News Sacramento reports that Roseville Fire crews received the call just after 11 p.m. and quickly contained the blaze to the second floor of the two-story structure.
Despite the fire's restriction to the staff area, the entire facility's utilities have been shut off, impacting the operation of The Gathering Inn, which provides essential services to over 300 people and families experiencing homelessness every day. "No guests or employees were at the scene when first responders arrived," according to the official statement obtained by CBS News Sacramento. The Gathering Inn is actively working with local faith organizations to secure a temporary location for guests to use during daytime program hours, as mentioned in a subsequent report by Folsom Times.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though no injuries were reported. The site, at 201 Berkeley Avenue, has been part of the organization's network since its establishment in 2004 and has served as a place of refuge and transformation for countless individuals affected by homelessness. The Gathering Inn aims to fully resume operations as soon as possible.
