After a nine-month journey that captured audiences on TikTok and traversed nearly every corner of the globe, the Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas made its return to PortMiami. According to Local 10, passengers disembarked earlier today, many of whom had been aboard for the entirety of the Ultimate World Cruise. Passenger Shannon Lake recounted the experience, telling Local 10, "It was an amazing experience," underscoring the array of onboard activities and the effectiveness of the activities team.
The voyage was broken into four segments and visited 60 countries across all seven continents, including a stop at Antarctica. Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Michael Bayley, who joined the ship for its final days, detailed the emotional response from the crew and passengers in a post on his Facebook page, stating, "The Serenade of the Seas has become such a warm friendly community and emotions run deep." As Royal Caribbean Blog reported, the crew was also lauded for their hospitality, with Bayley expressing gratitude "to our beautiful caring and loving crew who demonstrated their humanity and love to our guests."
Not only was the cruise admired for its ambitious duration and diverse itinerary, it also became a viral sensation on TikTok, garnering 9 million views for the #RoyalCaribbeanUltimateWorldCruise hashtag even before the ship left Miami. "We had no clue that it would become... there's been 290 million views of some of the TikTok stuff that's gone out in the ultimate cruise," Bayley disclosed to the press in January this year, according to Royal Caribbean Blog.
For those who might have missed this historical voyage, hopes are not lost as Bayley confirmed there will be another Ultimate World Cruise. During a community hall meeting onboard, Bayley revealed plans for a second journey, saying, "The answer is yes, we are going to do another Ultimate World Cruise." Scheduled to be announced during a reunion cruise on September 7, 2025, the cruise will only be available for sale to those on the reunion cruise. Despite the success, Bayley admitted to challenges, including the need for a ship with "more outside staterooms" for future voyages, as per Royal Caribbean Blog.
