Last week, a tense scene unfolded at a local laundromat near Howe Avenue and Hurley Way in Sacramento County when a man threatened a female with a gun. The situation escalated before deputies could apprehend him, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon the arrival of the North Patrol Deputies, the suspect, identified as 19-year-old Ramon Esquivel, fled his vehicle. Holding a handgun, the man was observed by the Sheriff's Helicopter (STAR) while he was making a video of himself. A chase ensued as Esquivel ran into a nearby apartment complex, where STAR provided aerial support to track his movements.
The pursuit came to an end when the Sheriff's K9 Jack located and apprehended Esquivel. He was found hiding under a parked vehicle in the complex's parking lot. Following his capture, deputies searched Esquivel's vehicle and discovered a stolen handgun, adding to the gravity of the day's events.
Esquivel was subsequently transported to a hospital, receiving medical clearance for the injuries sustained during his arrest by K9 Jack. Given the nature of the incident, he was then booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on multiple felony charges, facing a bail set at $125,000. Esquivel's encounter with the justice system continues as he made his court appearance today, September 19, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office reports.
