On Thursday, the San Francisco Police Department, in collaboration with Daly City authorities, made significant progress in the fight against organized retail theft. The SFPD arrested four suspects linked to a series of burglaries across San Francisco and San Mateo County, tallying losses of over $100,000 for the affected businesses. According to a statement released by the SFPD, the coordinated operation involved surveillance and strategic intervention to halt the crime spree.

During the operation, law enforcement personnel managed to track successfully and eventually detain two suspects at the Serramonte Center mall in Daly City. At the same time, the alleged vehicle linked to the burglaries fled. The vehicle was later found, and two additional suspects were apprehended on 16th Street and Bryant Street in San Francisco without incident. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered a firearm and stolen goods. The suspects - Jeremiah Sledge, Julian Gacutan, Rahjon Brown, and Marreanna Variste - face the justice system's process.

These arrests underscore the SFPD's commitment to addressing the uptick in thefts that have plagued retailers. "Officers have made addressing organized retail theft a priority and anyone who commits these crimes will be held accountable", the department's statement highlighted. As the investigation progresses, businesses interested in joining an Organized Retail Crime (ORC) operation have been invited to contact the SFPD for collaboration.
